    The Dangerous Wild
    Woman Archetype
    - if you dare...

      • "Within every woman there is a wild and natural creature, a powerful force, filled with good instincts, passionate creativity, and ageless knowing.  Her name is Wild Woman, but she is an endangered species.  Though the gifts of the wildish nature come to us at birth, society's attempt to "civilize" us into rigid roles has plundered this treasure, and muffled the deep, life-giving messages of our own souls.  Without Wild Woman, we become over-domesticated, fearful, uncreative, trapped."

      The preceding quotes are from the foreward and introduction of Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes, Ph.D.  This book is the inspiration for this website, and our email list, Wild Wolf Women of the Web.  We are a group of women from around the world, that come together to sing over the bones of our life stories. Our den was founded in December 1995 and we were the first wild wolf women email community to spring to life on the internet.

      Here, we have found our packmates and ourselves.  Here, we nourish the creative life and mark our self protective boundaries.

      Here, we howl.

      If you are looking for a pack of your own, perhaps you are meant to join us?

    Then...and now...

    In the beginning, there was a spark, just a moment when all else changed...the glow grew...flickered and was ever-changing. And as sisters come and go, the colors blend ...blues to yellows...and sometimes the flame billows with the wind, and at others times it seems as if it will extinguish. Each firekeeper adds her own fuel and each sees her own reflection in the night's heat. But if it were not for that first spark, kindled in 1995, the night would be cold and black and alone we would stand with no center to draw us in. Thankful we are for that tiny spark which grew to a flame seen throughout the world...and the flame grows stronger...a beauty to behold...never to be extinguished. That flame is the Wild Wolf Women of the Web, 13 years and counting...
